David Sykes Electrical safety record is very good and we are working hard to improve. The safety record forms one of the key performance indicators for the company. The RIDDOR reportable accident rate for the construction industry is about 1349 accidents per 100,000 employees per year (1.35%) (Source: RoSPA). At David Sykes Electrical there have been no accidents resulting in an employee being off work for more than 3 days. We are continuously striving for excellence, taking into account new information, research and ideas relating to health and safety issues.

The company's new Health and Safety structure revolves around a very comprehensive and detailed Health and Safety policy and manual, covering policy, organisation, planning and implementation, performance measurement review and audit.

An active role is taken by senior management to constantly monitor, review and improve the document and procedures, with the Managing Director personally reviewing the policy at least once a year. At the core of the new document is the concept of risk evaluation and reduction. A generic risk assessment has been carried out followed by specific risk assessments on a project-to-project basis.
