Company Origins
The inception of the business began in 1949 upon the start of self-employment by David Sykes. The early years consisted of steady growth of the business with housing, brewing, milling and agricultural industries providing the main source of work. In 1976 the business became ‘Limited’ when David Sykes (Whitley Bridge) Ltd was established. The company continued to expand into other industrial sectors culminating in a position where commercial and industrial work dominates the annual turnover of the company. In 2001, a new trading name of ‘David Sykes Electrical’ was introduced. Today, we are owned by Dave Richardson, who joined the company at 16 to complete his apprenticeship, when the previous owner retired.
